We converted an old police station into a 12-bedroom luxury boutique hotel called The Kings Park Hotel. Incorporating an onsite bar, restaurant and courtyard.
The original 1890’s Victorian entrance has now been re-opened as the hotel reception with eye-catching tiled flooring which leads onto the 12 en-suite hotel rooms plus a self-contained apartment. The original parquet flooring has also been put to good use throughout the hotel and restaurant, with much of it being incorporated into the Kings Park Hotel reception desk along with The Old Police Station’s bar plus the kitchen counter area.
We had transformed the original ‘mug’ shot and booking area into a 30 seater restaurant (The Old Police Station Restaurant and Bar), and also made use of the cells by converting them into VIP dining areas with their original brick and tiled walls, reinforced metal doors complete with spy hole still in place.
In the summer months the restaurant can open its bi-fold doors to the courtyard with a seamless transition with the level floor to the exterior. With its modern garden furniture, it is a real sun trap where guests can enjoy their food and drinks in the sunshine; a fabulous upgrade on what was originally the exercise yard!
- Design services for compliance with Building Regulations
- Strip out of existing building, including walls, services and welfare facilities
- Design and install all new structural steel and beams
- Break out ground floor and reinforce with new slab design and underpinning
- Break out and level courtyard area, lay with slabs that continue into a level access restaurant
- Refurbish and reinstate all timber sash windows
- Remove and replace metal windows with new aluminium double-glazed units
- Using a 1920’s photograph, we designed and installed a bespoke door to match, to form the entrance to the hotel reception
- Install a new commercial kitchen with extraction
- Design and installation of all bedrooms to meet Building Regulations (dry lining/plastering)
- All new M & E throughout, including services to the bar and restaurant
- Bespoke joinery throughout, including brides room and glazed area
- All joinery works, including bedroom doors and furniture
- Courtyard patio
- All electrical works, including lighting, sockets, services to the bar and outside features
- All painting and decorating
- Bespoke restaurant bar, design included reusing the original parquet flooring
- Design and installation of all fire safety, including alarms and fire compartmentation
